Got a FB Messenger contact from a potential customer. She wanted me to saw 2x6' from cedar logs - 10 logs up to 20' long, 7" to 20" in diameter.

She asked could I do the job in an hour? When I explained 10 cedar logs wouldn't be enough for a half day, my minimum charge, she wanted to negotiate my rates. I had sawn some birch last fall and ran it through my small kiln. Finally got around to a garage day to begin a little project yesterday. I'm not much of a carpenter, especially the finer points. I have a Norwood mill with a B&S vanguard 23. The oil filter sits almost on the deck. I was able to barely get a oil filter wrench on it. Will not budge. Afraid I was going to tear the fitting off the side of the motor, filter itself starting to collapse in. I think if I tried the screwdriver through the filter trick it might just tear through the filter. Hard to get purchase on the thing also. Any thoughts? Read More

I've had some failures while attempting to clamp and hold odd shaped (crescent, quarter-round) wood , in off-from-square positions on a LT40 so as to make the cuts to produce quarter-sawn lumber .
