This lift fell on top of a boat that I used to work on, the boat survived the fall, but the exhaust stacks and casings had to be replaced.

I'd like to have seen what they used a few weeks ago to right that cruise ship that went aground in Italy, the "Costa Concordia".

Way back in the early 70's, I was stationed onboard a submarine that undergoing a refueling and overhaul.  During that time I had the opportunity to watch Newport News Shipyard build BIG BLUE:  http://gizmodo.com/5946017/the-233+foot-tall-4600+ton-crane-that-builds-aircraft-carriers.  Now that is a big lift.  I can't imagine picking up 2.3 million pounds.  It is so big, that a 190 ft "smaller" crane fits under it

They are planning now to load the Costa Concordia on to a large "barge" that will slide under it after the Costa Concordia is outfitted with sponsons (large tanks) on her starboard side this winter.

Other link to the righting of the CC are available by googling Costa Concordia parbuckling.

Some in this Forum thread of the parbuckling that took about 6 months preparation for 19 hours of parbuckling.
