Wow I got my project down to sheet rock, lined up a contractor and have a crew of border brothers going at it. How do you say "please dont spill soda on the floor paper, thats finish material under there" or please dont drop scaffolding castes and decks on the floor" Or "WASHER BOX, si, yes , you covered it up". What are your experiences with sheet rock crews on these "wierd looking interior" houses?

I am going through this myself.  We hung the sheet rock ourselves and then are paying a crew to to the mudding and taping.  One thing we decided to do is use wide "old fashion" masking tape (the tan stuff) against the spots where drywall touches the timbers.  This way we can keep a cleaner joint between the timber and the drywall.  We are ging to mud/paint up to the tape and then cut the remaining exposed tape out at the end with a razor knife.  The tan tape in the joint should be less abvious than blue painters tape.

Shoot the masons dropping fireplace rocks is what gets me. We'll plywood off vulnerable areas. They're creative devils though  :D

We must have had the same crew do our place. I came in and they had 5 gallon pails of water on the kitchen floor. Problem was the water was no longer in the buckets but all over the floor mixed with mud from cleaning tools. They had the furnace turned all the way up, must have been 90 in there. Every time I'd turn it down they would turn it back up, finally I just went out to the lp tank and shut off the valve. :D
