The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is accepting applications for the Porcupine Mountains' Artist-in-Residence program for spring, summer and fall of 2010 and winter of 2011.

I'm pretty sure this is a volunteer position, not a paying job. In fact the artist usually pays by donating one of their works while in residence. At one time I considered on applying for one of those on Ilse Royal back in my painting days, but never did.  It has more to do with trying to better yourself and the place where you go.  Generally they are 3 week stints.   Perks may include free camping somewhere.
