How does one change default settings, to go from Adobe reader, to Foxit reader ???

  I click on a link, but get a blank page ???  I use XP.

I'm not sure if this is what you want or not.
Find what ever it is you are opening and right click.
Look for "open with".
There should be a little box to check that will allow you to open all files of that type under the program you now select in the big box.

Furby, I had adobe and it won't read on my Firefox Browser. I downloaded Foxit Reader, and want to set that as the default, instead of Adobe.

  There is supposed to be a yellow bar with Firefox, and an edit options button, to set default on Firefox. Can't find it ???

  I've been trying to open links to PDF's from postings on the FF and a couple other forums.

  Guess i have to take my questions elsewhere.  ???

It is done in explorer.
•   Right click on Start and choose explorer
•   Click on Tools and choose Folder Options
•   Select the File Types Tab
•   Scroll down until you find the file type you want to open
•   Highlight it and click change
•   The Open with Box will open
•   Highlight the product you want, if it is there, if not you will have to Browse to it.

  Thanks John.  When I do all that, I find Foxit reader is the option listed ???

  When I click a link with a PDF, I still get a blank page ???

Have you tried reinstalling Adobe reader? It's a free download and I have never seen it fail.

I see no mention on the foxit sight of it being integrated with any browser.  When you click on those links, you are telling the browser to go to that location. If the program is not integrated with the browser, its done what it was asked to do and thats it.

If you open foxit, can you go to open, then file, then paste the link it to the file location and have it open?

I's stick with acrobat reader. So what if its 20 megs instead of 2.

  ::) ::)  I guess THIS is the real question ???  There IS supposed to be a way to designate the Foxit to work WITH Firefox.

  I have re installed Adobe Reader 8, ALL versions, separately, and Adobe does NOT respond, even as setting it in explorer, as John suggested ???

  Maybe I got one-o-dem gremlins in the machine, again ???  ::) ::)

I would uninstall all versions of Adobe Reader, reboot, and install the latest version. Go back to John's post and enter Folder Options again and click 'Change' beside the 'Opens With' and make sure it's the version of Reader you have installed. It should be 'Adobe Reader 8.1' if that is what you have. You might have it set to an earlier version.

Just to put an end to this thread, I shut the computer down every night, and if I will be gone all day, in case the electricity goes off, and drains the UPS.

  I re-downloaded Adobe Reader 8, and configured it per John's instructions.

  If I can't read a PDF, it ain't important to me.  ::) ;D

  Thanks for all the help  8)
