Was looking for a certain cutter in my dad's basement machine shop and came across a note pad of my grandfather's that gave me a good laugh.  Didn't pan out for him that way at all but its pretty funny.

What's on your list this morning?

Mike, that's funny.
A man in town hit 10 million dollars on a scratch ticket. He bought land that borders mine and built a nice house, a barn-workshop, a new tractor and pickup. He kept buying scratch tickets, a hundred dollars a day. I said he was crazy, but he scratched a ticket for a million dollars!
So, who's crazy?

I have known a number of gambling addicts very well who have actually hit big then gone back to zero. The win actually ruins them, makes for a frenzy to maintain the riding high lifestyle.  The best thing a big winner can do is buy land and houses IMO.  Theyre gonna blow it for sure, may as well buy appreciables.

Scrambled around this morning to get my off road fuel tank set up in place.  I did the paper work for the fuel company last week and ordered fuel for next week.  The driver called me when he was 20 minutes away this morning.  I made it.  Have 300 gallons of fresh off road in the new to me tank and filled the tractor, skid loader, end loader, and 100 gallon transfer tank 8)  Did maintenance on the firewood equipment after that.  Ready to run tomorrow morning.  Going to the post office for stamps now  ::) ;) ;D  Haven't snail mailed anything in a long time.  I need a stamp.  Just one and I'm out it seems.  I keep some in my check book which I also rarely use ;D and there are none there now.  Hope they have Forever Stamps ;)

I didn't buy a lottery ticket when I was town.  If you don't play you don't win ;) ;D

But, if you don't play you don't lose.
Trying harder everyday.

Getting jobs done before it snows, finish up my loader, cleaned up a woodlot, the other guys got a septic mulched and Lance got another driveway done and dozer moved, other 2 guys are crushing away, no shortage to keep busy. Tomorrow i get to put hay equipment away....

I'm too Jewish to buy a lottery ticket, when I worked for Reinauer they used to send us to the casino for 2-3days for the company meetings, watch guys blow 2-5k bucks and then cry to work over so they could afford to fly home. We investigated doing the lottery a few yrs ago just as we opened up, wanted no part of it, the guy from the state wasn't happy 😆 I would rather see someone buy a bag of weed and a sandwich, at least get something for your money.

I keep todays list short so I can finish it.   So replace the primary fuel filter on the 886. Drain the slurry tank on the Mack so the pump doesn't freeze .

Several other things to do before winter set in but those can be other days.

This is a fun topic!   :)  Love the note from your grandfather.

I have ADD and if I don't put it on a list, it won't get done. Today's goal is to clean the bathroom, ceiling to floor. I hope that I don't see a squirrel on my way and go chasing after it.

The squirrels in my life:  phone calls, running to the store because I forgot something, did the mail lady come yet, is that cabinet dusty, when did all those leaves blow onto the back deck (I'll just grab a broom and...).

On a positive note, I am completely self entertaining.

Dig rocks, cut some wood so I have a better view of the meadow going down the road and a better view of my field coming up the road. Level out some areas, to make it easier to mow. Take the dog for a walk. Well I walk, she runs.  :D

No real work for me today, i drive 130miles to look at two different kiln operators for my big teak order. nobody here has dried 6x6. so they estimate 2 month in the kiln. need to personally hear the guy talking to "feel"  him out. won't risk a 25k load of wood to a inexperienced kiln operator

My today list contains 3 things, if 2 are on tomorrows list I did good ;D.
1, put led lights front and back of tractor.
2, take deck swing down and put away.
3, split a bucket load of cord wood for Rita to stack ;).

Paper work is done for the time being.  Guess I'll flip a coin when I get to the shop.  Could run a load of firewood, fire up the brush cutter and trim sugar bush mainlines, install the new block heater in Boomer, put the tire chains on the 544 and Bobcat and give them a LOF...  Better get going on something.  Winter's late now.

Great approach in my book.
I always heard you should celebrate your successes!   Marking the list the end of the day seems a great way to satisfy that, success of your completed list item(s).  In projects you always want to update your next steps to prepare the transition to those.   Great to update your list at end of day while items are on your mind and next day you are ready to start versus trying to plan what to do.

Filled the pump on the power washer with pink antifreeze and then cranked it out with the pull cord. All set now for its winter sleep. Don't want my pump to suffer the same fate as my neighbors did. :o

My Grandmother turned out to be the best gambler in history.  She spent her entire life in a about a three county radius in Central Virginia.  At about 85, she had the opportunity to visit one of her daughters who had relocated to California (Her husband was on loan to UC - Berkley, but that's another story).  They planned to visit Lake Tahoe during her stay.  My Uncle gave Grandma a couple of rolls of quarters to play the slots.  Grandma had never gambled in her life.  With the second quarter that she dropped, she hit for about $300.  She cashed out, put the money in her purse, and was ready to go home.  ;D
My wife on the other hand wanted to visit the casino when we were in Cherokee, NC a number of years ago.  She had never gambled either.  Sitting in the parking lot before we went in I told her "This place is a piggy bank; and it ain't your piggy bank."  She dropped two rolls of quarters in about 5 minutes and decided she didn't like the place much.  I learned on my first trip to a casino (Tunica, MS) to find the buffet and enjoy the food.  Get up the next morning and enjoy the duck hunt.

The theory if you play long enough you will get it back ( I'm referring to table games ). That can hold true but how deep in your pockets are you willing to go 🤑😂

Got the jeep snow plow running. Then went for the last load of fuel, that makes just about 1000 gallon on hand. Should get by til late spring or beyond. It's almost fun when the price is so low. Then it's 100 gallons of gas for the old picker truck I never converted to diesel. Also getting 2 new batteries delivered, seems I never stop buying them, that will make 6 I bought this year. 2 where big bull dozer batteries for the generator and they hardly cost more than car batteries.

I just got back from 10 days being gone (4 of them driving) and am not looking forward to the unpack and find places for everything i dragged home part at all.   Good to be back tho.

I've been told that lotteries are voluntary taxes.
I think that falls inline with what you wrote.
