Birch from Latvia in local HD

I saw bundles of birch firewood at local HD, I guess it is worth it to somebody to ship it across the ocean.

But I have to politely disagree with the statement:   Simply the best.

Birch - as far as I remember - has btu similar to pine, the only good thing about birch is that it will burn well even freshly cut and green.

White Birch is not exactly prime firewood, but it still has more BTUs than White Pine (20 MBTU/cord vs 13.2 for Eastern White Pine). It's a little behind White Ash, and a little ahead of Black Cherry or American Elm.

Black Birch is a great firewood (24.2 MBTU) right up there with White Oak, and ahead of Sugar Maple (23.2), Beech (22.7), and Red Oak (22.1)
