I'm going to be building a 24'x24' timber framed garage this summer. I really like the idea of the hinge plate as seen in the following link
https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?topic=3636.0

A few questions
1. How think do think the top and bottom plate should be? I'm thinking 1/4" steel would be plenty.
2. What size of pin would you use? I'm thinking 1/2".

Am I under sizing these things?  Any suggestions? Anyone use these?

Thanks!
Ezekiel

I have no idea what thickness those were but I would think 1/4 to 3/8 woudl be about right. I woudl go bigger on the pin though. try 5/8

If you would like me to contact Ed Levin, the man who designed them, for the exact dimensions, I will.
Just let me know.

Jim,

If you don't mind, please contact him. Speaking of Ed Levin. I just ran across his picture in one of Jack Sobon's books.

Thanks,
Zeke
