EPA to Revise Its Regulations to Specify Logging Roads Need No Discharge Permits

Bloomberg (May 22) - The Environmental Protection Agency will issue a rule to specify that logging roads do not need discharge permits for stormwater runoff, according to a recently released notice.

The rule is intended to protect the status quo on logging roads-on both public and private land-by specifying that they should be operated under best management practices, often developed by states, rather than regulated with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits under Section 402 of the Clean Water Act.

Ron, Thanks for sharing. Common sense prevails. Imagine what it would be like if EPA had decided we needed permits.

I'm glad to hear that Ron. I'm so sick of unimportant people (govt. officials) puffing up their chests to try to make themselves look more important. >:(  But it seems that somebody who works for the government has some common sense. :o   I think I'll open a bottle of champagne.
