Interested in learning more about how to come up with a number on timber stumpage value. I understand this is not an easy answer but I'm wanting to understand how to come up with these numbers.

Anyone have some good resources I can dig into?

Youd need a tally of how much volume in each species and grade you have, then a local market rate for each.  Getting price sheets from area sawmills is fairly easy but accurately estimating grade and scale is a career in itself.  Until youve cut, bucked, loaded and sold a few acres worth, its a really hard skill to soak in by any other means but to actually sell logs.  I researched as much as anyone reasonably could.  But i didnt learn the ropes until my mistakes were costing us dinner.
