HELLO,
NEW HERE AND VERY NEW TO SAWING. I PURCHASED A 36" LINN TYPE MILL KIT ON EBAY OVER THE WINTER AND HAVE JUST STARTED SAWING "MOSTLY JUST WHITE PINE". HOW MUCH BLADE TENSION "FT/LBS" WOULD BE RECOMMENDED. THE DIRRECTIONS IN THE KIT SAY AROUND 30 BUT I'M NOT CUTTING REAL ACCURATE. THE BLADE MAY BE DULL THEY SENT WITH IT "MIGHT HAVE TAPPED A LOG DOG BUT BOARDS SEEMED A LITTLE RUFF BEFORE HAND", I'M WAITING ON SOME NEW ONES I ORDERED. ANY POINTERS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO GET ANY HELP FROM THE EBAY SELLER I WISH I HAD DONE BETTER HOMEWORK AND WENT STRAIGHT TO LINN LUMBER, I BOUGHT A CLUTCH OF THEM AND THEY SEEM LIKE GOOD PEOPLE. O WELL LIVE AND LEARN.
THANKS

You will know much more after you get the new blades.  I encourage you do do much reading here because the blade's hook, 4°, 7°, 10°, etc. matters when sawing different species and log conditions.  Remember that the only dumb question here on the FF is an unasked question.   :)

Welcome to the Forestry Forum, TVE1998!

I also think you will see a big difference in cutting once you get your new blades!

You will get all kinds of idea as to blade tension here on the forum!

There are several here who will max out the pressure gage, myself, I just follow what it says in the book!  ;)

I purchased the double hard 1 1/4" 10°. Hopefully the rain will stop someday and I will give it a try again. I have tons of white pine on my property and want to use it for siding on a barn I'm slowly building. The boards I already cut have some waves but will work for me. Hopefully it will be good practice. Thanks for the feed back.

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it!

Didn't work for me.  YMMV
