making a 5" slab into a 3" slab

I always give my slabs about 4-5 days to move after resawing because of the internal tension before I bring to final dimension.  I've had slabs that have been acclimated for 3 years that I resawed and ended up with a significant twist in them.

Caleb is right on that .  The top is stable in its current configuration , but when you remove two inches from one surface the darn thing is gonna wanna twist.

I'd avoid being part of that risky scheme, but yes one could make it into a 3" slab as mentioned.
