I've never saw this flower before coming across it yesterday on the side of a logging trail. THe ground is quite rocky. Its a beautiful thing that looks like it should be in a garden. Any clues on what it might be?

Yup, looks like the lost garden flower to me.
And some kind of hollyhock. ::)
Definitely not a hollyhock.
Mom has planted some of those...not sure what they are called.
Carla says it's a Snapdragon
That would be my guess Paul, but the thing is 3 miles back in da boonies.
Looks like False Foxglove.
I'm on the snapdragon side. Move over Carla. :D
By the way, that plant is probably 4 foot tall.
Wife said it was a foxglove.Move over herbman. :D
I've looked up photos of foxglove and false foxglove and I'm pretty sure this aint that. We have foxglove in our garden at home and its significantly different. If this was in our garden at home, I would certainly say it was a snapdragon.
I feel qualified to say......
Its not sweetgum. :D
It is pretty, but James is right...it ain't a sweetgum. ;) Tim
I bet it lies on a flight path from the garden to the bird's nest ;) You sure have big snapdragons down there.
There's just something that ain't right about referring to the UP as "Down there". :-\ :D
Linnea is with Carla,Tom and Sprucegum. It is a snapdragon, probably seed dropped by a roc. :D
ok, I'll concur as soon as I figer out what a roc is.
I was wondering the same thing.
Maybe random overhead crap?
ROC= Robin on Crack
roc=Rambling old Chickadee
roc=Rooster On Call.
Did you not read Ali Babba and the tales of Sinbad when you were a kid?
Open sesameseedbun?
You might be confusing that story with a certain comic strip wherein a spinach loving sailor had a wimpy friend who had a fondness for burgers :D
Sinbad (another sailor type) got carried away by a certain large bird.

Carla is wise. It's definitely a snap dragon.
