I see things ever week that remind me of other members.

I can't help when I go into Publix to shop....I think of Mooseherder.
I saw this bottle in the Grilling Section today and thought about Magic and his lovely wife Pat.

Then I saw that it was Ho-made.....I thought of ROL.  :D :D :D

I see stuff all the time that remind me of you guys.   :)

Went to a country store today where they have some really good Hotdogs.
Standing there waiting, I looked to the right and they were selling BBQ Sauce.

Guess who I thought of Jeff ??????

Good grief, and to think all this time I thought I was nuts!  OK, so I still am but what the heck.  I see a lot of things that make me think of members which I've never met (yet) but am always envious of their imagination and creativity.  For instance right now I spend most of my day driving through my calving yard and look at all the ERC that have been rubbed on by cows and grew in funny shapes, I wonder what could Poston, WDH, Yukon, or a whole list of other members do with that tree.....Sorry, didn't have much to do with food.

The above is an illustration of Jeff's previous comment about @ tagging the wrong person.  @Southside logger intended to tag sandhills but instead mispelled and tagged Sandhill.  Just an innocent mistake, but it will cause confusion.

I'm about to remove the function completely as clearly it's misuse is getting worse. Tagging someone that is already involved in a topic is not what this is meant for. It is meant to alert someone to something they have no involvement in, but might want to know about. Tagging someone just because you can, can cause aggravation, especially on my end when I get complaints about something that is supposed to be helpful.

Do we need a thread just on Tagging, again? Some probably are not seeing the wrong way to use the tagging. I like to see it stay,it does help,if used the way it was intended.

Jeff

I've just found a way to upgrade it to let people remove the notifications under their profile settings. This doesn't help it from being misused, it just lets those that get aggravated by it to opt out. I hate to see that as at times it could be most useful.

Tagging someone who is already participating in the thread is certainly not necessary. Just leaving the @ sign off but using the member name will direct attention regards the point addressed.
Maybe harping about it will get the point across, or just tagging that offender (that's too harsh of word to use for our members) will do it over time.

Thanks for working on it Jeff.

Boss,

If you can get it working again, we can ride herd (old saying) on it to see that it is used as intended.

How would you tag someone with a two part name like @paul case?

Edit: didnt think it was going to work because the drop down menu didn't show up. But it worked just fine. For a second I thought I would be un-taggable.
