Hello so I'm researching what Sawmill to purchase and I'm pretty sure I like the Norwood hd36, however I also like the woodmizer lt15 wide.  I talked to the guy at woodmizer and although the specification say it can cut a 36 in log with a Max board width of 35.5" he told me that somebody had actually cut 44 inch slab. So my question is what is the widest somebody has cut with the hd36 because although it says it can handle of 36 in log, the specifications say it could only cut a 28 inch slab. I'm assuming with guards removed you can cut at least a few inches wider, but I haven't being able to determine what the actual Max width somebody could cut...  I'm hoping somebody on here has experience with that.

It has been a while but I think I cut a 32" slab with the one guide removed. Not sure how anyone would cut a 44" unless it was a really short log and positioned on an angle.
