Drying shed question

I am in the process of designing a drying shed that will be attached to my mill shed.  I plan to build an open-sided white oak timberframe.  Three sides will be open for ventilation; the upper section of the gable end will be enclosed to minimize entry  of driving rain.

Should I be concerned of potential rot in the brace pockets of the unprotected posts?

Yes, you should.
One solution is to bore a small weep hole into the post so that any water that collects into the brace pocket can "weep" out.....

I haven't seen it work or bored but this is what was mentioned once at a conference....

I appreciate the info.  Sound like I need to find a way to cover the joinery.
