Lately the head on my 1987 LT30 has been hanging up on the way down.  Normally at 18 inches and down.  I use ATf on them.  The rails are black and dirty.  What is the best way to clean them?  Other problems to look for?  I use a leaf blower to clean the mill when done sawing.  The mill is almost always under A roof.

I've had that happen a couple of times over the years and I wiped the masts down with a fine sandpaper then wiped them with ATF and that ended the problem for a few years!

Crossroads

Is it coming up solid or is it kinda jerky coming down? If it's jerky, tightening the chain may help.

Chuck Whites sandpaper idea worked.  Thanks for the rest of the hints.  All something to remember.  It was hanging up on the way down.
