Hey everyone, I've been reading and watching the forum for a while now but this is my first post. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any working, inexpensive skidders for sale in Maine. I've been looking at both craigslist and uncle henry's and haven't been able to find much. Mostly looking for a tj although I would consider anything. I've ran both a 440d and 540b deere and love them and would consider either if the price is good. Thanks

You might check with Ronnie (can't remember his last name) down in Waldoboro. He buys and sells used skidders. His number is: 207-542-3578. Good Luck!

Welcome to the forestry forum moosebrooklogger. You can broaden your search on Craigslist at allofcraigslist.org
There is a machine somewhere just waiting for you to find it, I'm sure.
Turbosawmill M6 (now M8) Warrior Ultra liteweight, Granberg Alaskan III, lots of saws-gas powered and human powered :D

I'm looking for a machine that may need a little work but nothing too major. I'm looking to cut maybe a load or two a week on nights and weekends with it. I've been leaning towards a timberjack because I know their reputation as being tough and fairly easy to work on. Also they are priced much lower than a deere.

MoosebrookLogger,

Take a look at my TJ 230, posted last week, in the For Sale section of the forum.

I know you're in Maine, but I could help you with freight.

There are quite a few listed on the kijiji new brunswick website.  It also appears that there are a number available in this area of central NB for $10-18000.  I don't suspect it would be very hard to get one back across the border.

I was going to give a suggestion, trying to be funny, but I guess I won't.  ::)

Grits work pretty good for traction, if you can't afford tire chains.
