It's time for me to buy a better chainsaw. This is for homeowner use-bucking logs or cutting firewood a few times a year. I'm considering the Husky 450 or Stihl 271 with 20" bars—both have similar specs and price. I know everyone has their preferences, but which should I buy and why? Any other suggestions or advice? Thanks!
Brian, Like you I was going to make the same purchase. Either the 450 Huski or the 271 Stihl.I decide on the Stihl with an 18 bar and chain combo except,, I did not want the safety chain. Instead I requested the Stihl RS chain.Anyway I walked out the door Without the saw. I went to my Echo dealer and purchased the CS 490 at a lower cost that has all metal construction, adjustable chain oiler with a three year warranty.Anyway after the muffler mod this is now my "go to" saw.Echo had the chain that I wanted and swapped it out with the original.
