Hey guys trying to find a place to get a remanufactured motor for my skidder. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Greetings,

Try calling J-K Equipment, and ask for Kevin Mason 207*416*3510   located in Maine.
Kevin was a factory J/D skidder tech for 25+ years, and went out on his own around 2000,
I believe. This guy has more J/D parts for older units than any supplier that I have dealt with.
I also have a 540B,and this man knows that machine inside out.

     good luck

Try Dave Swinton on Bay Road in Lake George 518-793-8426.
Jimmy or Jeff MacFadden in Sharon Springs  518-284-2090
Nash Equipment in Colebrook, NH  603-237-8857
maybe Pete's Equipment in Morrisville, VT  1-866-237-3189
     maybe RCS Diesel-Ron Chiasson-Ludlow, MA 413-589-0085

There's probably others; someone will add to this list.

I know where there's a re-machined block in my town that came out of my 440D. Its been sitting inside covered up in plastic for a year or two.  If you are interested, I can send you the number of the guy selling it.

Not to change the subject, but does anyone know how a John Deere Skidder axle works? The kind that can be unlocked. Is there Hyd Pressure that locks & unlocks them? If a guy got a good deal on some could they be adapted to say,a older Hydro Ax or Skidder that has Deitroit lockers in them?

personaly i'd rather have the old style no spins. but to answer your ? remember that deere has closed center hydraulics and most every thing else is open center. so the plumbing would be difficult as the deere units won't have a return line.

I'm wondering who much pressure is needed to lock it in? And could a relief b put in line or diverter valve? I've run a few shears & Skidders with unlock able diff's & they sure turn fast with less tire wear. But the ones we have are all old style lockers. Just thought it might b a good Spring Break Project(road postings). But maybe them diff's would be more of a problem then I'd want? Haven't had any of them apart. Plenty of the old style. Maybe I'll switch plans back to putting a V653 in a TF C7D? I know of a 7 with a locked up 453. Wonder how a 653 fit in place?👍😎
