Job - $200

(Most) friends - $200

Barter - $200

What the heck are you driving where you'd barter an oil change instead of $300?

Where was the tree located? If no risk to buildings, power lines, fences, etc. is the barter to a friend? If so go with that since he'd likely cut the tree for free and you'd likely do the oil change at no charge other than materials. If risky pay the professional with the insurance and equipment to do it safely.

No branches, no metal those logs brought to my mill, and picked up pronto off green chain; $75.

Oops! I misread again. I was thinking to cut the tree down not saw it up as you asked. If was me would be 30 cents/bf for the final yield if you brought them to me. If I had to move the mill to you I'd have a minimum $300 also.

I have one friend that I would do it for free.  I know he would help too. He's the kind of friend that pulls into the yard and comes find me. If I am sawing he has his gloves on and jumps right in. He does not stand there with his manly sandals and his $50 jeans and ask,Do you need some help? ::)  Doug did stay away for a while when we put up some full size 2X8X12 foot hemlock, right off the sawmill. :D  Than I had some drying for a few weeks and he liked me again.  ;D   They was much lighter.

I got plenty friends, most of whom know to show up around 5.30ish because most days that's about beer o'clock.

For a friend gas, blade cost and him to help.

For a friend, $0 for this job knowing if I need a favor it would come back. I do this kind of job all the time for one of my friends and he does stuff for me. He's putting in some fence for now to buy back a cow and some guns I bought from him when he was in a bind for cash. If you both agree on an oil change in return for the milling, I say good deal. I like barter.

Is he a friend, a good friend, or an acquaintance. Acquaintance I would charge. A friend who helped I would cut for the price of materials. A good friend I would do it for with no questions.

We had an F1 tornado yesterday came through. Lots of trees down and minor damage to some of my house and other structures. The friend I referred to in my previous post came with his son and chainsawed the trees out of the way so the power company could get in and fix the downed power lines. Nothing asked in return but you can bet I will do something along the way to pay it back.
