Title: Makita duc254

Apologies if I've missed a thread on this little 18v battery top-handled saw-i've seen the stihl/husky variants covered, this saw is fairly new to the uk at least.Tried one of these makita variants about 18 months ago-36v/twin batteries, but too heavy, too broad across the beam and a slow/snatchy chain speed imo. This saw is something else-extremely light, slim, with a petrol chain speed+a turbo button to increase speed for knotty thicker stuff.A brushless motor with a 4/5 amp battery will give you say 20 mins work on stuff under 5"-3-4" wood is probably its sweet spot.A push to start button which disables the saw in about 10-15 seconds if you dont press the throttle makes it pretty safe too.If you already have the makita infrastructure (as I do)-a few batteries+a fast charger, its a cheap intro into the world of battery chainsaws. If its dangerous-thats because it DOES lure you into one-handed use-I like the arm chaps as a precaution. As a long time and heavy stihl petrol machine user,I couldnt justify spending on a whole new battery infrastructure. This saw sells for £135 odd in the uk,but I'm not sure how widely available it is.But if you have makita stuff already its really worth a look.
