Tam Jalapeno Peppers

I like the flavor of jalapenos, but not the heat. This year I tried some GMO free seeds from Baker Creek called Tam Jalapenos which have all the flavor with only about 60% of the heat and thick walls. They are a winner in my book and my wife will even eat the salsa I make with them. Only 10 plants and my first picking was almost 1/2 bushel.

and pickled 32 jars to enjoy on my nachos this winter.


 

The plants are over 4 feet tall already and loaded with flowers so this is only the beginning.

TAM's have been around for a long time. Developed at Texas  A&M. Texas A&M milds. I prefer them hotter than that.

Tam's are our favorite too.  I love them for ABT's (Atomic Buffalo Turds).  Mine don't seem to grow as large as yours though, but the plants are prolific.  This year we had a rabbitnado and they even ate the Tam's...some of them right down to the ground.

This year is the best year we have ever had for peppers. I put new compost in the raised beds and all my pepper plants are between 3 -5 feet tall and loaded with large fruit. It must be the 12 inches of rain we have had over the past 2 months. Never had a rabbit touch the peppers, but the beet greens are almost gone now.
