just noticed the 310 chassis looks much like the 290 and the 390. im in need of a new chassis for my wore out 029, can i shop for a universal chassis that conforms to all these saws?
does stihl have anymore saws that share the same chassis?
thanks

Yes, the 290-310-390 Stihls are built on the same frame.

I remember reading somewhere that the crankcases on the 070 and 090 are FULLY compatible. The same is true for the TS760 TS510 076, and 051, plus the bearings on those 4 saws and the crankshafts are all compatible. The older saws it seems had more parts interchangeability than the new ones do. I'll stick to my old saws to which I'm addicted. :D then I'll stay true to my name. it makes sense to me at least.
Let there be saws for all mankind!

The 026 and 036 are different saws with different motors built on different platforms. They share similar designs but few parts are interchangable.
