It felt pretty good yesterday when we were traveling home from Syracuse, we stopped in Watertown to fuel up and bought 87 octane gas for $2.999/gal.

Average for Regular is about $2.59, although it is as low as $2.39 here in Tidewater.
On a history note, the national average was $1.86 the day Bush left office. Sure has gone up a bunch since then. I had a Dodge Neon in 1998, and I could not get $10 of gas into the tank.

drove around Houston this afternoon killing time till I needed to return the rental and catch my flight. Gas prices were all over the place. Anywhere from $2.35 to $3.00. Diesel prices from $3.11 to $3.85. As much as $0.50 difference from one side of the street to the other. Never seen anything like it.

You prolly get extra fillers and water in the cheaper gas.
Brings the price down, as many will pull in to the cheapest price they find.

It's all about transportation costs.  The further you are from South Texas the more it cost to transport the fuel so the price is higher.

Then there is the thing about different amounts of state gasoline taxes.  State Gasoline Taxes
Notice that Mississippi's taxes are 18.4 cents per gallon where Wisconsin's are 32.9.

I saw gas today for 2.29 per gallon.  Cars were lined up everywhere, reminded me of the gas shortages of the 70's!
