I am in the process of building a traditional timber frame using green timbers hewn from the log. I understand that most choose to erect the frame first, then roof, then cover walls add doors widows and floors. Great, but I have found next to nothing online about shrinkage of the door and window frames, how to actually install them. Are there tricks for a green timber frame such as log cabin builders use, or do timber frames not shrink enough to make issues? I want to frame the doors and windows as simply and traditionally as possible.
Thanks to all,
Josh

Timbers shrink very little over their length, so you shouldn't have to worry about it in a timber frame. Logs shrink a lot more across their width, which is why you have to make special window bucks for log structures.
