I've got several 3" thick burr oak slabs that were cut a week ago and I've got them stacked on a pallet, stickered, and covered with pole building siding. I doubled up the stickers so there is an 1 1/2" gap.
It's in shade the first half of the day and on the west where it gets sun I hung burlap to limit the sun.
Are these going to be ok or is there something else I should be doing? Burr oak seems to be prone to warping and checking.
To control checking, we need very slow drying. So, burlap all around the pile may be needed No rain on the wood. Sticker at 3/4" as greater means faster drying. There is a risk of mold with 12/4, but that is inevitable with thick white oak in air drying
