Husqavarna Guy

Hi everyone just scored a jonsered 510. Just wondering if these were good saws and what the HP specs are as I really can't find much info on these saws. Also what Husqvarna model was it similar to? Thanks

For the most part I have found his info to be correct, every now and again you find a mistake or two. It is a good place to start. Not sure which husky model it would compare to. It looks like the 510 may have been similar to the 49 and 52E Jonsered. Engine displacement looks the same.

Congrats with it, it is a good light saw.
The Jonsereds 510 was all Jonsereds 510. It was comparable to the Partner 5oo and Husqvarna 50 , but it didn't share any components with them.

The 510 is not similar to any Husky, and it was a totally different and cheaper made saw than the 52E and 49 - but it also was lighter.

However, the weight spec in that Acres link just is wrong - it wasn't that light!  :D

In 1979-'80 I logged 8 hr a day with the 510's big brother the 910E. Yes last of the real Jonsereds and this series was one of the best power to weight ratios saws ever.
I miss that old 910, wished I had a chance to have owned the 510.

Here's some 1979 ads for the 510 and 910 Jonsereds from my Chain Saw Age magazines.
Center folds are too large to scan so I just used my smart phone.
Specs for the 49cc 510 says 10 1/2 lb with b/c included. 87cc 910 says 15 lb powerhead only.

Here is a better look at the info of those ads.

The 510 (1979) has something as unusual as an horisontally split metal crankcase, and really was the beginning of the end of Jonsereds saw production.

Soon after, the influence by Partner and Husky became very obvious, and by around 1990 Husky made all decent Jonsered models, regardless who designed them.

It is a fact that the 910 and the 510 were the last pure Jonsereds saws, every later model was more or less influenced by Husky or Partner, or both.

I also read about the 510/910's black plastic top cover and rear handle were the same material used on the wings of a F-16 fighter jet , a form of carbon fiber maybe?

Yes I remember my 920 which replaced the 910, it had the Partner style handles, added more bulk and weight too.
