I have a hard maple in our yard that is a wonderful shade tree.  More than 40 yrs old...it was there when I bought my place.  The last few year it is looking less and less robust.  Many dead branches and the leaves are much smaller and a bit paler than other nearby maples.

I was wondering if any kind of fertilizer might give it a bit of a boast.  If so, what should I used and how Should I fertilize right to the drip line?

thanks

I would use miracle grow.  Take about a pound packet of it and sprinke it all under the crown of the tree, then water it in very good.
