A visualization of the Forestry Forum server
« on: February 11, 2018, 09:10:15 PM »
The geek in me has to show you this. This is a visualization program that connects with the Forestry Forum server logs. This is just 5000 lines of the log, about 3 minutes this evening around about 6:55 EDT.  Kinda slow compared to what it was earlier this afternoon. This should give you just a glimpse of the data that the Forestry Forum Server handles. This isn't counting mail or anything like that. Just the web access.   I think its kinda cool.  Geek out my friends. :D

It looks like the scene out of the Matrix.  Now can you explain at all to me what on Earth I am looking at?

Website traffic visualization that replays as a pong-like battle between the web server and an never ending torrent of data requests.
Requests appear as colored balls (the same color as the host (I.P. address) which travel across the screen to arrive at the requested location. A file or function on the server. Successful requests are hit by the paddle while unsuccessful ones (such as a 404 error - File Not Found) are missed and pass through.

Ok Thanks - just watched it again.  Are the #'s on the left the IP address for the members or guests clicking on a post?  I kept expecting Agent Smith to suddenly be visible in all of that.

Very impressive..from 2 standpoints..1 the amount of communication in and out of the server and 2 some geek or geeks spent a lot of midnight oil putting that application together
