Anyone here make or ues bio char.    Ive been making it in a barrel from dried waste block from work.  I also make it in  my heater in an old metal can that  I use to cook the blocks in.    I take it out and grind them up and use them in my garden and raised beds.   Im doing some  comparison plantings now.

I don't make it but I have talked to some university graduate students about making it. They are involved with a university of Toronto study that is documenting the making of biochar and its byproducts using various mixtures of sawmill waste. The burner is loaded with a known volume ( or weight ) of sawdust, fine and coarse, and then the burn temperatures are documented as well as the resulting weight and quality of biochar and byproducts. Very scientific and very time consuming. I cant remember what the latest results are but I expect that they will be published eventually.
