Hackberry uses

One day I'll hack into some. I suppose it makes ties if all else fails.

Funny, THE book shows no hackberries present in my area, of the three species represented. But we do have them. A little south of us they really start to pick up. I guess the primary large-size hackberry in the South is the Sugarberry, but they seem to be almost the same as the hackberry in the north.

Many botanist now are not distinguishing between hackberry and sugarberry.

Good. From what I can see, there seems to be less difference between sugarberry and hackberry than there is between red maple and red maple.
