i have noticed the metavics, blue oxs, andersons, and JMS trailers on the net, can they handle sawlogs or are they made for small stuff. i see they can be pulled with a tractor or atv. i was think about a small firewood business on the side and they look neat. can anyone tell me about them?

Check out grapple trailer and the post by billm. Good looking set up. Posted in the last week in this category.

They can haul some pretty large sawlogs.   I actually have two Metavic loaders.   I use the M12 with the articulated trailer for the woods and my Metavic 1400 to pick up sawlogs when necessary to haul to the sawmill over the road.   Attached are two PDF photos showing then in action.

That photo only shows about 1/3 of all of the wood that was on the landing at that time. I don't know how your 110 is set up so I can't say. My loader does struggle with some of the bigger logs ( 16 footers with 350 bd. ft. and larger) but it is still faster than skidding.

i had to skid to the loader and the load the truck. that is still very impressive for a loader that size. how much do they cost?

Almost 30 thousand new. The hydraulic drive assist option was almost 10 thousand.

Bill m, does a timber buyer come to the landing or do you do your own hauling?

Did you skid all this wood w/that trailer and tractor??

bill m

The forester handles the sale of the logs so no I do not do any trucking.
