Wide spread tandem axles

I'm looking to add a tandem axle trailer
to the fleet.  I have an opportunity at a deck over
converted Troy? boat trailer originally from Delaware.

Older style wedge (no center wheels), 4 wheel brakes with
a wide spread on the the axles,  

I like the idea of the wide tandems, I know they can be tough on tires, etc
Anyone advise on what to check beyond the obvious?

Looks like mobile home axles.  Does NY allow them on regular trailers?  Some states don't and the NE US gets pretty crazy on that kind of thing.

I believe mobile home axles are OK in NY but you can not use the mobile home tires. Not sure about the wheels, they may not pass inspection either. Check with the NYS police.
I bonce inquired at DMV and got a wrong answer, the trooper who stopped me (warning only) said I should have asked the troopers.

A lot of modern equipment share that same mobile home look axle and wheel, even the brand new LT70 uses them. 
Franklin buncher and skidder
JD Processor
Woodmizer LT Super 70 and LT35 sawmill, KD250 kiln, BMS 250 sharpener and setter

Enough cows to ensure there is no spare time.
