i know its a greenhorn question, but what does mbf stand for is it million board foot or is it manufactured board foot or  something else?   i have searched and cant find the answer I'm thinking it may depend on what's being talked about and where as in different countries.

It's 1000 board feet. Must be related to Roman numerals - certainly not metric.
mmbf is 1,000,000 bdft.
Cook's MP-32, 20HP, 20' (modified w/ power feed, up/down, loader/turner)
DH kiln, CatClaw setter and sharpener, tandem trailer, log arch, tractor, thumb tacks

Ah that's news to me also, I had it in my head that 1mbf was 1,000,000 bd ft.

Yes, it is based on roman numerals mbf= 1000bf  mmbf= 1000x1000 bf or 1,000,000bf. Just as ccf or a c-unit is 100 cubic feet, again c is the roman numeral for 100, based on the latin word centum, meaning 100. I think we could all see how mbf could be mistaken for 1,000,000 bf. It is a good thing to know, cause it could really put someone down if they bid on 6mbf thinking it was 6 million bf. ???

Sometimes 6 Mbf seems like 6 million when you have to stack it :).
