I bought an 8 pack of led shop lights from Princess Auto...29.95 a light......I should have bought about 20....these were a good deal and were on sale....as Inspector Closeau said in the Pink Panther..."Not anymore"...Regardless, they work really well....Now I can work more stupid length shifts than I am right now.... :D :D :D

I got pretty well the same lights from costco. I put 6 of them above my mill. I can't work without them now.

If you've ever had to work under dim flickering fluorescent bulbs on a sub-zero morning, then you will truly appreciate LED's. smiley_sidelightbulb

Literally walked in from the shop as we finished installing new LED's on the forwarding trailer.  Four-up bar with 120 degrees total, mounted at the base of the boom so it's always pointed where my eyes are.

Mill's next to get the sunlight at night treatment ... off to Princess Auto this evening after a timmies stop.

You mean there's a better way than holding my cell phone on flashlight in  my teeth to read the scale and  set my last two cuts in a cant I didn't get finished before dark..... I wish I was kidding.. :

Been there, done that. I find it works better if you clip the belt clip to your shirt collar actually.

I thought I was the only one that did that  (I don't have a cell phone so I use a flashlight). I can't wait until I move the mill and have commercial power available for some lights. Right now I sometimes have to use a flashlight during the day if it's cloudy because the mill is under a huge tarp.

I think about this all the time, just have not had time to do it. I need to get a battery and get it done.

All the wiring is in loom so a picture would not do much.  But here is a diagram.  I used the 12v + laser wire (#1207 on my mill) as a trigger source to feed into a waterproof relay, this way I can turn the lights on or off from the DCS station, and there is no significant draw onto that circuit.  

The lights come in quite handy even during the day if there is a shadow or if it's overcast, one pair mounted on the back of the head and one on the front. (I only had half on them on there when I took the photo).  It completely eliminates any dark spots even from 36' away.  

If you have a walk along or a Command Control model the same thing could be done just using a toggle switch rather than tying into an existing circuit for a trigger.  I didn't want to have to walk up to the mill and flip a toggle so I went the route I did.

I had a ton of t8 fixtures that had bad ballasts in them. I just bought the t8 LED tubes in bulk from amazon. The last batch I bought cost me $4.00 per bulb. I rewired the lights to eliminate the ballast and powered them on one end. They are so much brighter, instant on, and instant bright. Worth every bit it took to do it.
