I'm a Deere guy too. I cut my teeth on a 69' 540A..then bought a brand new 540D...sold it  when I 'retired' from the woods. I now find my self dabbling in the woods again. I'm running a Jack 380, dual arch grapple. I will say getting on n off is easier, but the whole torque converter/screamin' detroit system suks !! It won't do ANYTHING unless it's wound up...going downhill, too. Getting used to all the levers takes a couple days, but really isn't that bad.
I found out yesterday that the 540 I bought new might be coming up for sale soon 8) 8)

I'll take a Deere any day.

I'm new to 350's, only had it a week. Mine seems great, auto tranny is nice. They are very stable, with lots of room in the cab. I came from a TJ 240 and have not been disappointed. My brother has a 350 also, with 18.4's and a 353. He loves it. Mine has 23.1's with a Cummins. I'm happy with it.

I have a 350, 3-53 Detroit, Clark 3 speed, Hercules winch. I have previously had a TJ 215, 240 and 330. The 350 is my favourite of all of them.

I have noticed the 350 is relatively easy to work on, since it has so many access panels compared to the 200 series machines. Yes, the screaming Jimmy is loud, but that's what ear plugs are for.

My 350 is a firewood machine, and is not intended for business purposes. Some have complained about insufficient power in the 350's, but I disagree. I pulled 5 hitches yesterday of tree length green birch and poplar (the heaviest we have here). It made the Hercules grunt a bit to get them lifted, but the Skidder pulled them with ease.
