The only long haired pics I had were on a Video tape, taken by Channel 3 news, in Springfield, Mo. in the 1980's. They came out to our homestead, and did a shoot on renewable energy and living off-grid. Erin Hayes was the Field Reporter. Might ask Arky to check into this, but, if'n I was him, I'd refuse. ::) ;D ;D  Had the beard, had the hair. Looked like Grizzly Adams.  ;D

All other pics is with my Flat-top. Had it since 1962. Still have some of it.  ::) :D

I'll have to do some rootin' around some .....

Long hair? Heck, I'm happy to find a picture from when I had hair, any length.

I do however, like Firewood Farm, have a cute picture of my pet when he was young.

Now wasn't he the cutest little dickens ....... Back then it was even cute when he snored, now I give hime the heave to when he starts.  :D

Well heartened by Buzz-Sawyer's truly brave and selfless act of being first off, I have reconsiderd my previous cowardly ways and found some stored on the old computer...

You asked for it Buzz ::)

this is about a year after the world was to never be the same;

Over in the UK we didn't often get ice good enuf to do Ice fishing so just had to do with rain fishing, or overcast fishing;

Sorry to disappoint you Buzz,

There's lots of things I was never good at,  growing hair is right at the top of the list :(

Now as far as long, hippie hair,  that wasn't in style when I was at the rebellious age.  If mother nature (and my parents)  would have co-operated,  I'd have had a 'DA" or a 'Mohawk' :D :D

I ain't got any old photos here, but my Mama's got boxes full.  Trouble is, their computer is broke, but they got a scanner.  I got a scanner, too, but it is broke, though my puter is working fine.  Look's like we gonna hafta negotiate some sort of family settlement, before I can get anything posted. :-\

Not exactly what Buzz is looking for, but the best I can do. It WAS taken in the sixties.

My brother and I were at that age when we played with Dad's hand tools. We broke his folding rule and also the one he replaced it with, so that Christmas we each got some simple hand tools with our own paint color dotting each tool (no folding rule though). It must be the summer after that when we decided to make a clubhouse out of some lumber he had in the basement. I cannot tell you why he had lumber because he never made stuff, only doing the simplest home repairs until his business grew and allowed him to hire it out.

A couple neighbor kids helped, including one who ended up stepping on a nail. There were no other injuries to report since power tools were not involved. In fact, my guess is that we used only a saw, hammer, and screwdriver for the hinges, and one look at the picture will tell you we did not waste much time with the saw.

I know, I know. It was obvious to everyone who saw it. That is why my mom had us take it down in a matter of days – she wanted our neighbors to know we still had indoor plumbing. But to us it was a CLUBhouse. No window (none needed since the joinery left room for peeping out and circulation), but we did install a floor so there was a place to hide stuff underneath.

I no longer have the watch, but after nearly 40 years and many variations, I somehow have the same haircut.

For you folks w/o a scanner, the newer cameras high resolution does a pretty passible job, tyry to fill the WHOLE fram of the view finder with the old pic.....ie up close, also use good natural lighting so the flash wont glare.........
NOW LETS SEE THE GOOD STUFF :D :D

I'm pretty sure I destroyed all of them old long haired pictures before the grandkids could see them ;) but I have to admit I was one GOOD LOOKING guy, with blonde hair down to my a$$. How good looking you ask ??? well let me tell you a store, back in the early 70s I had some friends that had a band, they would play all of the local bars in a four county area, well they were playing in my back yard and I wanted to go see them only problem was I wasn't old enough to get in so I had my mom bring me. there we were my mom, my older sister and myself sitting there listening to the band when the bar maid brought over a round of drinks from three airmen sitting four or five tables away from us.
One of them finally got up the courage to come over and WHO does he ask to dance, ME :o I told him no thanks but my sister might like to ;D mom laughed out loud and I got one of those looks from my sister :D

Robert my hair was about the length in your picture before I got it cut. When I went to the hairstylist he tried to talk me out of getting it cut so short. :D

I have an old school ID from those days when my hair was so long, one of my sons found it and was shocked. Maybe when I'm in my 80's I'll tell him some stories from those days......well maybe not. ;)

Really makes a guy think of how he made it this far. I was a beer drinker back then, alot of the guys I went to school with are'nt here anymore. Most of them OD on sum kind of heavy drug. I guess that doesnt really matter what we did, many times I didnt remember how me and the chopper Trident made it home.

EZ, my preferred ride for many years was a 1975 Triumph T160 Trident.  I know what you mean about loosing friends.  I lost too many to motorcycle accidents.  Not due to drugs or alcohol, some due to inattentive car drivers, some due to their own recklessness.  :-[

Norm, by 'stylists', who just happened to be a fellow biker, tied my braid off and snipped it with some large shears.  My wife wanted to be sure we saved it.  I think she thinks some day she may need to glue it back on! :D

Heya Onewith
I loved them TRidents..They were fast for their time. I had a Kawasaki 500 mach 3  that was fast as well and them tridents were the ones I had to watch out for. One fella in Smithers  with a Trident where I played in the band every weekend would challenge me to a dragrace on an old desolite piece of highway. Who ever was sharper would win. I liked his bike more than mine. It was a 72 I think and Looked just like a Bonneville cept for that beautiful engine.

I had a 67 Trident, best riding bike I ever had, except it was a bear to start. After I sold it, I went in with the rice burners. Them 750 hondo's was the king of the road, once they where bored 60 over. ;D 130 mph was my thing back then. I still like to ride but 50 mph is pretty fast, now a days.

I have no old pics, but I will get one of me now (in a couple of weeks when I am in my more natural bald state). I was an 80's kid, and had the hair. I miss my hair, but I love more than anything being clean shaven bald. Nothing to have to fool with in the morning.

For those of you who remember the Triumphs, I still own a few and a couple of BSA's too. I love the old British iron even if Lucas still can't make a decent electrical part......lol.....prince of darkness......lol....the door closes and the lights go out......hahhahahahaha.....

Well Oww, I have a 66 Bonnie (in pieces), a 73 Bonnie 5speed (again in pieces), a 75 Bonnie that is about half way to bobberhood complete with 21"apehangersand a 6" over hardtail (I love a hardtail), a BSA Tbolt (in pieces), and a BSA lightening (mostly parts).

I pick these things up as bits and sit on them till I have enough stuff to complete one, and finish one....ride it for a while....and sell it. I gotta get one goign pretty quick. With gas over 2 bucks a gallon I would kinda like to tweak a pair of amals to 65 mpg.

I miss racing too, but my nerves and reactions aren't what they used to be. Never had a problem, and am not going back out to find out whne I am going to eat tarmac.......yuck....ouch!

I would love to get over to your side of the pond and go to the Isle of Mann races! I have wanted to watch that run for years. I read about Hailwood as a kid, and admired him quite a bit. He was one more stiff competitor.

Domi's, and cubs are way too much fun. Nothing beats a Brit 4 stroke single for low end grunt. I love a nice trail and a one lung thumper.

Still trying to find my Brough though, and I know it is out there.....if Leno quits buying them all up.

I hate ti that the British motorcycle industry is all but dead. I was glad to see Triumph make a comeback,a nd some of their new stuff is pretty sharp. I have my eye on a Bonnie.......just give me time.......

My Mom lost two of her small dogs just before Christmas, they got into some chocolate. ::)
She HAD to get another one even though there are three other dogs in the house already.
She got one just like your's but with only one eye.
Several weeks ago the dog wanted some water and instead of asking by scratching the dish like the other dogs do, she jumped straight up from the floor and into the kitchen sink. She knew where water came from and wasn't going to wait around.

:D :D  Musta been related.  When Sugar was with us, she would jump up, while we were eating, and look at what was on the table. It was like she was on a pogo stick. Over and over, her little head and big ears would appear, and seem to hover for a second while she perused the fare.  One night, she mis-timed a jump and landed on the corner of the table.  She let out a yelp and hid under the couch for about 2 hours. :D :D :D

Well, they do.  Sugar was my Mom's dog, or Mom was Sugar's Mom, or something like that. ???  Sugar would take up her "position" on the back of the chair by the front window, when it was time for Mom to get home from work.  She's put her butt on the chair and her front paws on the window sill and WAIT!  One evening, Mom had somewhere else to go and Sugar just wouldn't give it up.  After an hour or so, her head began to sag, then she'd perk up only to have it drift downward again.  Pretty soon, she was doing the "rubbernecked head-bob thing" that Foxworthy talked about.  Dad and I were sitting at the table drinking coffee and watching her, getting a pretty good laugh.  Finally, she fell asleep, and fell between the chair and the wall with a big KERRFLOPP!  She yipped one time and trotted off to hide under the bed.  I swear her face turned red! :D :D :D :D

That will change tomorrow, however.  Time for my annual spring pruning, so I can work at the Masters Golf tournament.  Mebbe I'll get the Mrs to snap some before and afters.

This is from one of my previous wooly periods.

That was in the mid-eighties(the decade, not me).  There's people still talkin' about that chicken. ;D

Yeah, the shingles blew off when I was in my twenties. :-\  Wish that wuz the worst problem I had.  I guess I oughta thank my ol' Daddy for making it easy to be bald.  He's always had a great outlook about it, so I grew up thinkin' it weren't so bad.  Never bothered me a bit, 'cept the sunburns and cold days.

Ya know DanG the experts try tellin me that the genes that cause baldness are inhereted from your mother's side o' the family. Now I've never quite bought this theory after seein my brother in law's three generations of chrome domes ;D

Not that I need to worry none and if ya'll have seen my picture earlier in this thread you'd know why :D

I have been meaning to add my pix here for some time, finally took the time to scan a couple of them in.

This little honda 50 belonged to my cousin. It was around 71' so I was about 11

Fast forward a few years to around 78' or 9 and say hello to my stinky little friend!

This has been a fun thread, so I thought I'd bring it back up to the top since I finally found a picture worthy to be here  ;)  This was taken my senior year in high school.  All of the students in one of my classes had to pair up and do an interview-type presentation.  One of the teachers (this was actually a block of classes, so we had three teachers) made it a point to tell us to dress up.  My friend and I didn't like this teacher very much, so we decided to dress up in our own way...from a thrift store shopping spree  :D :D :D  Had my mom put my hair in curlers the night before too  ;D

Yup, here we have high set houses, UNDER the house is our storage.

No-one's silly enough to get into a roof space here! FAR too hot!

Will finish this icy pole and go look in my daughter's room, if the albums are here that's where they'll be (or under the house).

I have to look in there anyway, coz Andy's dad turns 80 next month, and he likes Charles Dickens, and I have a first edition in there somewhere I think he might like for his birthday...  Gotta find it...

Gee Iain,

I trolled through boxes and boxes this arvo, and FINALLY found my photo albums.

Then I carefully removed a selection of photos, even tore a couple coz the albums are so old...

THEN I went and got into my car and drove round to Andy's place to use his scanner...

Scanned them all, and burned them to disk, then came home, made dinner, then finally sat down and started to resize the photos...

Only to find you'd already posted this.

Do you still want me to bother with the youthful photos?

although I'm young enough, and in good health and could probably cope, so upload away

Murf, that "fading beard colouring" is called patina.  It is a sure-fire sign of a man in his prime, as opposed to those with all those various juvenile "colours" who only think they're in their prime. ;D

Dat's a good theory DanG.  ;D

I asked one a da fellers at coffee hour(s) dis mornin about it, he's got a beard sorta like yers.

He claims he wore da colour plumb off it from rubbin' it and pullin' on it when he's cogitatin' over sumat.  ::)

So what's it called on a woman???  I don't like the idea of telling people I have a patina.

Can I just call it "bottle blonde"?

Asy, it is still called patina.  You can't fake it, no matter how much money you spend...it's gotta be earned.  Honest is what it's all about.  Purely natural is the only way to be.

We came across this photo on SWMBO's hard drive so I though it was time to ressurect this thread.

Anchorage Alaska circa 1968, posing with my first fish.  Good this Ling Cod doesn't fight. :)

I'll have to dig around and find the one or two photo's I allowed to be taken of me during my High School years...
Until then just picture Cartman from south park at 17 with hair halfway to his belt.

Fast forward to 1996 and my "first date" (of two?) with Debbie who is now SWMBO
(https://forestryforum.com/gallery/albums/userpics/12870/rafe%26deb_2.jpeg)
We're dressed a bit casual for dating but it was the second or third day of the "date"...  Here's one more from later on
in the same "date" at my brother's wedding showing the profound effects this kind dating can have on hair.

Christmas 1996, my new SIL Sarah, brother Matthew, Debbie and myself.

This is a more recent photo showing off my usual hair style as well as a little photoshop finesse.  That's not a staff I'm leaning on but a chain link safety fence with all the links edited away.

For some reason I seem to be eating in most of my photos.
I can't find any when I had the mop on my head and the hairly face. Maybe no one wanted to see me like that.

Here's one from last winter.

I remember this thread from along time ago. I kept my head nearly shaved for many years. I had a set of shears, I'd just buzz it off every couple weeks. I worked outside in the sun alot and started getting spots on my forehead that would bleed when I got sunburned again (can you say melanoma ?) I wore a hat when I could, but they gave me a head ache so I decided to quit shaving my head for protection from the sun. It just dawned on me, I am one of those long haired freaks. I have not touched the shears for 2 years now.

Hard life.  ;D    Thats Tammy's pointy finger Ada. The caption on that photo is really accurate. There was a guy over in the culligan man's driveway doing mutiple donuts. Thats what we were looking at. Probably one of the people that didn't have the guts at the beginning of the service to answer the question "If there is anyone here that thinks this man and woman should not.... :D

Now I know what tree elves look like.  ;D That is one big tree or three small people.  When are you going to mill that tree?

That one aint gonna get milled!!! least not untill she fall on her own. Its a bald cypress in a swamp called cat island in St. Franscisville La. At the time this was our hunting lease, about six years ago the state bought the land for GP and it is now a preserve. There is a tree that is larger than this one but I dint have a pic of it yet. There are limestone roads now that you can travel when the Mississippi river fall out during the summer to see this swamp. Its a wonderful place.
