I bought a 041 new in the early 80's. Cut a lot of wood but the saw lost spark and failed several times.  The ignition points behind the flywheel would close up. She let me down one time too many.  Traded the old 041 for new 044 which is my favorite, also a have MS460.

Welcome to the forum captain. I've never ran the older saws but do have a farm boss from 2005. Ran the heck out of it without a complaint, except now it's having problems with the clutch I think because the chain never stops moving, and it's set at a good idle. Also chain tensioner is acting up. Still it's a great old saw and has been good to me. Between three people that saw must have cut hundreds of cords.
