Wes Lyon

Hello everyone.  Rained out on the job site this morning.  Doing paperwork this am (ARGH) and was feeling GOD's blessings all around me this morning and decided to stop and say hello and good morning.

Have a nice day everyone.

Tom

Thankyou Wes, you too.   I have been looking out the window this morning at the sunny day and spring being in the air.  It sure makes life worth living. :)

It sure has been pretty here in Florida tyhe last few days. Cool in the mornings, a little warm during the day, then cool again at night. Absolutely perfect weather!

And speaking of God's blessings.....

I have a lot full of logs to saw, a new (to me) skidsteer to move the logs with, and paying customers on the books. I'm as happy as a pig eating slop, and fixing to be busier than a one leg man in a butt kicking contest  ;D

WOOOOOHOOOOO !!!

Getoverit,  you can't mention a skidsteer like that without a description and a PICTURE.  You have been around long enough to know that. :D :D

Believe it or not, I havent even taken a picture of it yet  :o

It is a New Holland 785 with a perkins diesel engine in it though. It will lift 2 14" by 20' long pine logs at once with no problems. It has the extra counterbalance weight kit on the rear of it, and doesnt even hint of trying to tip with this kind of a load. I'm still taking it slow and easy until I get a better feel for it.

It's an old skidsteer, and showing it's age, but runs like a sewing machine, and lifts what I ask it to, so I'm really pleased with it.
I'll do my best to get some pictures of it tomorrow and post them.

Wes, I missed your post - hope you got your papaerwork done. I always claim to be doing paperwork when it rains (like today) too! :D I actually get some done sometimes.
Hope your day was productive and fruitful.

My wife came back in the house this a.m. on her way to work and exclaimed she had a flat, so I threw her the keys to my loaner car. I have a loaner car because my truck didn't want to restart Saturday after we had stopped to get a coffee refill during a trip to East Texas. So I had to call a wrecker to tow it to the shop. They still haven't gotten to it but I think it's the starter. That should only be $500 or so :'( Hope it isn't worse.
So it's raining and I don't have my trusty Ford mule, but as you so correctly opine, our blessings are many. If this is the worst I have to deal with it will be smooth sailing.

getoverit - you are way past your time allowance for posting pics of that new-to-you toy! :) I sure would like to see some close-ups of those backwieghts. I need some on my Daewoo.

I have been so busy lately that I havent had a chance to take pictures except after dark. These seem to have come out ok though, even with the flash on the camera.

Here is the new (to me) skidsteer:

And here is a close up of the weight kit. There is one of these kits on each side of the skidsteer. Also note the distance between the wheels on this skidsteer. Because of the extra distance, this one doesnt throw you around and rock when you pick up a load. It handles rough terrain really well too. I'm really pleased with it so far.

 8) nice 8) I know you'll like movin those logs around with that manuverable little feller.
Just be careful with it. When lifting loads high, alot of bad things can happen especially if you let yourself get in a hurry.
Alot of times those older ones like we have, someone has wired around the safelt features. Well, wire them back where the safety belt and safety bar must be in place in order to start. Just a word from the wise. You can be ejected from that machine before you can say "I would have sworn I was being safe".
Thanks for the pics.

DanG good advice. Those interlocks are there for a very good reason.

I'll be DanGed if I know where Bogota is either, but I think it's a ways south of here.  ;D   Bogata on the other hand I can find even if dropped blind folded in a South American rain forest! 82 west to paris then 271 south about 20 miles to Bogata.

Bogata was named after Bogota, Columbia way back when. Only problem is the founding fathers misspelled and mispronounced it ..........Ba goooo ta. True story or so i'm told.  :D

Anyway, been doing bookkeeping and taxes for 2 ranches (parents and ours) the last few days and if I've never mentioned it here................I HATE TAX TIME
smiley_angry  I always get behind on paperwork and then find countless ways to avoid doing it while I'm doing it.

Hey Rivercrest can't be the Rebels, Sam Rayburn is the Rebels!

When I read that article at first I thought it was talking about OUR Lady Rebels.
The difference is we are the Runnin' Rebels.

Anyway, we need to hook up on a Southern Conference of FF members. There's quite a few of us.
