Frame is cut from a curved branch of a large white pine. A real banana...yes a white pine that grows bananas...sorry no seeds available. The exterior shell  is in russian exterior grade plywood , 1/8 '', 3 plys, pick-up in the garbage. At least I got some good garbage from the russians ! The small shelter that I call a banana boat, is use to put firewood in. I am able to move it around with the forks of the backhoe. I could even go in the forest with it and pile my wood right there and bring it beside the house in the autumn. Minimum handling...with age I have to try to use my intelligence because I am getting lazy !

Needs to be very crooked otherwise it is difficult to use. On other structures I have to laminate thin layers.    So now lets put a  new norm in log : very straight or very crooked !    ;D
The curve has to be in only one direction i.e. not twisted. If it is twisted the log have to turn at the same time it is saw. My son and I  did make a didgeridoo, that is a kind of australian instrument of music that you blow in. We use a branch of staghorn sumac, that is a soft wood with green and yellow strips with a corky heart . So we cut it in half by turning the branch as we were sawing.  A guide was used  to retain the branch from flying around.  After empting the hart, the 2 halfs were glueded back together.  The result was an amazing form. Isn't wonderful all those curves that you could produce with a band saw !!

I've got some curved trees in my yard!

Do you think it's crooked enough?

Growing on a hill like that it's going to have some real stress in it. That will be one that jumps off the mill while you'r cutting it.

:'( Bad me. I didn't hold my phone right. I could rotate it but I have no idea which way to rotate it because it is right on my iOS device. If I were to fix it it would be wrong for everybody with an iPhone or iPad. Sorry.
