I know how you all like pictures, so I got organised enough to take some yesterday

Log set up on bunks and 1st pass made to trim off some stubs and check levels

A couple more runs and I'm taking off good boards

Close-up of the end of the log

Pushing the mill thru on the horizontal cut

Pulling the mill back for the vertical cut

Hey Ian is that an 8" your running there, one of your other pics shows a blade with 8 stud holes, suggesting it's a 10". I don't think we made a 10" back then (might just be another manufacturers blade modified)?

Looks great.

Hi Jake
Yes it's an 8 inch model
The blades seem to have a second set of 4 holes at a slightly larger diameter than the actual mounting holes. I'm not sure what the purpose of them is?. I have 2 blades exactly the same and I assume they are the originals that were supplied with the mill.
Anyway it still cuts fine :)

Would any of you swing-blade operators in NZ be able to ship me a m3 or two of Red Beech? I'm in Pennsylvania, USA. It needs to be fumigated and documented. I can arrange the fumigation. I have an import license.

Email me if you have any interest.
