The wife and I are gonna make a day trip for this on Sat. August 16th. We're wondering if we'll be meeting any Forum members.
mark
Summer is crazy this year, but hope to get up there.
I'll PM you if I go so we can perhaps have a coffee together.
Probably will be other members there also.
Pete
Pete, yeah a crazy summer here too. this time the wife got the idea to go...soooo, I shifted stuff around. If you can make it, I'd be looking forward to the coffee and a chat

Sheila and I plan on going on the 16th (Sat).
We've only been there twice, and that's been a while!
We are going on the 16th also. We should plan to meet at the Logrite booth at a certain time. How does 1pm sound to everyone?
1 pm at the logrite booth. GOT IT !
OK with me guys!
1:00PM
Looking forward to it!
oops cant make it.
Wife and i are off to Florida for 3 weeks to get our new house there in order.
As of this coming Dec we will officially be snowbirds.
this is going to be a mega lifestile change for me, no more snowmobiling etc.
Pete, you ARE going to be around this area for hunting season, AREN'T you!
We've had some good visits at your camp!
So it looks like through some clever maneuvering on Tamiam's part, Tammy and I will be there with Logrite Tools. Tammy will be going on home from the show, and I'll be off to Logrite Tool Central to get a Logrite tattoo.
(Not really on the tattoo, but I'm going back east with the logrite crew) ;)

Great news Jeff, it'll be great to meet you guys as well as the Logrite crew!
Tammy, looks like you will need extra brownies!!.
Got room for another???

So excited to have Jeff and Tammy coming!!! Would be great if everyone met at our booth for a picture.
Logrite is the first booth if you enter the show at the covered bridge.
Yes, I'll be bringing lots of brownies.
Sounds like a party!
so its 1pm sat at logrite booth cant wait to meet every one and put faces to the names :D :D 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
If anyone is interested in the Onan engine in the "For Sale" section, I can put it on a pallet and bring it to the Boonville Woodsmens festival on the 16th, might be able to save on shipping costs.
The Forestry Forum will still get a cut!
I got suckered, I mean volunteered to be in the dunk booth for log a load for kids on friday morning. If any of u guys are there swing over. Im in around 11.
@Jeff (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=1) How far "back east" are you going? @Dave Shepard (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=4240) and I are only a little over an hour from Vernon Ct. I would like to get to Boonville this year but have to much to do and can't take a couple of days off.
I'm going to be going on back with the logrite crew to Connecticut. :)
Would you have time to stop by while you are in this part of New England?
Are you going to treat them to the Red Lion for lunch? :D
I'm going to be at the mercy of the logrite clan Bill, but it would be great if we could meet up somehow. Tammy and I are driving to boonville and meeting up with Logrite's for the show, then Wildflower will return home on Sunday, and I will be traveling on with Tamiam and Kevin after the show to help out on some geek stuff. I'll then be flying home on the 21st.
Bill is about 8 minutes South of Exit 2 on the pike, depending on traffic in Stockbridge. Let me know if you will have time to stop in the area. I, personally, will not be treating anyone to the Red Lion. :D (Bill will get the reference)
Don't forget the "meet" at LogRite!
1:00 PM +/-
Wife and I are leaving today. gonna take in the antique festival in Bouckville and grab a room in the area. (hope we can find one). Tomorrow @ 1:00 we will be at the Logrite booth to meet y'all and shake hands with "the boss" ;D. Jeff, glad to hear you'll be around :)

Lots of stories told and enhanced friendships started!
We do plan on going to the Pig Roast next year, God willing and the St Lawrence River don't rise!

Great to finally meet some of the faces behind the names yesterday.
When I got back to the in-laws house, I realized I blew it. I've been saving a nice White Oak slab to make into a bench. I meant to pick up a couple of the LogRite bench stands while I was at the show. Bummer. I doubt I'll be able to convince Kim and the kids to make a detour on our way back home to pick some.
had a brain fart and could not remember where this was :D :D had a wonderful time with every one on sat thanks to logrite for making it happen and putting up with us ;D it was great to meet jeff and tammy and those brownies food6 food6 food6 looking forward to doing it again

It was great to meet everyone at the show. We got back here to Logrite central late last night after stopping at the Red Lion and having a cocktail with James Taylor ;D
Likewise Jeff. Great to meet all you guys. The missus now loves the logging and woodsmen shows. Shes trying to get us to Paul Bunyan as we speak :). ;D

You were 1 mile from my house. J.T. lives a couple of houses up from my inlaws house. They come by my sugarhouse every spring and buy syrup from me.
I was kidding because of the previous posts. ;)
@Jeff (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=profile;u=1) It wouldn't surprise me if you did have a drink with J.T. He is known to stop by the Lions Den ( the bar downstairs at the Red Lion Inn ) for a drink once in a while.
I have 2 young sons that I think would enjoy lumberjack sports. They have been in the woods, around sawmills, firewood ect... Any suggestions on getting them started, who to talk to, equipment for young boys? Any suggestions would be great. We live in the Boonville area.
How young?
Welcome to the Forestry Forum, NewToSawing.
QuoteI have 2 young sons that I think would enjoy lumberjack sports
You think, but what do they think? Have you and them attended and watched shows, and did they express an interest?
My wife and I attended a show yesterday, LINK (https://forestryforum.com/board/index.php/topic,78943.0.html) and the "contestants" readily talked with the audience members between events. That would be a start.
Its coming around fast!! August 21, 22, & 23. 2015

I too am hoping to be there saturday. No dogs allowed though, so they might not let me in :D
What e? ;)
what time are you landing there??
DGDrls
Lol!
I am not sure! I would guess that I'll leave here saturday or sunday morning, I can get there in 2 hours from here. Unless I take the scenic route through the mountain land, then it takes about 3 hours but it's worth the drive. I am planning to be there on saturday, but I am going to call my old boss and ask him what day he's picking up his Baker there because I want to meet up with him and check out the mill.
I will be there Saturday. Looking forward to seeing the other FF members there.
we will meet at the logrite tent at noon again thank you logrite 8)

I never have either, but never really looked. Hate to haul them there for nuttin.....even though it's only seven.
Got my muck boots and rain gear loaded. Hopefully I don't need them. :)
why would you say something like that :) just because it rained last year :D :D
I've been told it rains every year! :)
It only rains when dem yooper boys come ;D
Linda and I are heading to Boonville tomorrow AM.
Hope to see Tammy and Kevin there.
Also a great place to shop for supplies, I am taking advantage of the WM offer of 15 percent off on blades and i can also drop blades off for re-sharp there.
Haven t been in 6 years so will see some of the loggers I worked with when practicing as a consulting forester.

Especially when grits are involved.

And by the way, have you gotten that last batch that we are relaying up there to be divided between Peter and Ray?? ??? :D

I'll be there Friday only. Since my FF hat is too dirty, I'll have on a green hat that says:

If you see me, stop and chat a while, I love to meet FF members. I always stop in at Logrite's booth to say hi to Tammi and Kevin, maybe I'll see some of you there.

I do indeed have the original box from last years trip to the field days........I'm off to see if I can dull another blade before heading up :D
As I entered the NYS Woodsman's Field Days show in Boonville, NY this morning, the first persons I saw Were Da Boss, and Kevin (Logrite) Bantle. We talked a while before I moved on. From there on I didn't see any FF members I knew and none walked up and introduced themselves as FF members. Somehow I thought a few might, because I had mentioned ( on the FF)what hat I would have on but sadly none did. I had to get back home early, and I walked the whole show, stopped and talked at several and then swung back at Logrite before heading out. One display I was looking for and either they were not there or somehow I missed it was a Peterson mill display. ???
Met up with Jeff today! Haven't been able to get on this site in months..helped fix my phone. We are working the log a load for kids booth next to the Baillie tent. Swing by and say hi.
Thanks for the report. Maybe some of the others will chime in.

Maybe next year we will stay for Saturday. Lots to see and do there.

it was fine ;D have to say never seen a battery melt the caps off though :D almost wound up in the pokey by Rockdale passed a tractor trailer he started blowing the air horn looked up there he was speedo was reading a little over 80 :o said a few words to the wife but he never came out of hiding the truck driver must have seen him first was making good time coming home till then :)
We don't put up with scoflaws in our neighborhood. ;D. It was good meeting everyone .
in Boonville. Wanted to buy some gloves. Not sure how many pair I looked at but they wouldn't last half a day in the woods. I tried on several different types that said 3XL on them. Couldn't even get my hand in them. All made in China. I did see that one vendor had 5/16" 100 grade chokers again this year. Won't buy anymore there as now i get my chain from Tulsa Chain and make my own. May go up today and see if there are any last day bargains. For most things you can't beat the prices there, good time to stock up on things. They have some good food there also. lol
I looked too.
A bunch of c***.
IU bought some nice ones on line
I'll look them up and PM you.
Had a good time visiting with FF folks and Tammy, Kevin and Jeff.
The brownies and zucchini bread were outstanding.
A shout out to all I met at the Logrite tent.
Brownies and zucchini bread were great.
Paul glad you got home with no trouble.
This show has gotten impossibly big, traffic in and out very slow.
After only eating popcorn and the aforementioned brownie and zucchini bread Linda and i stopped at Texas Road House in SYR for sustenance.
did anyone see the northern wood lands booth up there wanted to renew it but could not find it
These was a fair amount of "home-owner" or less grade stuff there, but there was also
a good amount of High quality goods if you wanted it,
I was very impressed with Comstock Logging Supply,
they brought a boat-load of stock.
Great to have met more FF members
big thank-you to Tammy, Kevin & Jeff.

Wish I could of hung around a bit longer to meet up with u guys. Thanks again Jeff..whatever u did worked. I had been up there for 3 days setting up and working the Log A Load for kids booth. Had to get back and pull wood.

Apparently neither is playing with 4 wheelers.

Lots of time on the road for this one. Total of 26 hours. 7 hours of those driven in hard rain. I'm exhausted,

Lots of time on the road for this one.
Jeff, I am curious. What route did you take?
Going over, I went through Canada. Should have only been about 9 hours. Took 14. 3 wrecks in Canada with backed up traffic, and an hour at the border, then torrential rains from Niagara to Booneville. Coming home I took 90 and stayed in the U.S. should have been 11 hours, but took 12 due to heavy rain in Michigan. I'm glad I was not one of the poor souls Sunday afternoon trying to get home on I-75 south in that rain. It was backed up from Bay City to Grand Blanc. Probably over 50 miles.
Well4x4, that explains why I didnt get to meet you.
Hope you heal quickly.
thanks everyone! who saw that guy running the big baker mill? i thought he was pretty good. gonna go over and see that mill running at the farm here soon as i feel up to it. That cummins engine sounded great. Drew quite a crowd.
4x4American - Get better soon!
Interesting ride home. There was a small caravan of vendors on the road. one by one getting smaller the farther along we went. At one point a chainsaw carver decides to pull out and pass the two logrite vehicles. His carving being interesting we took a pic as he went by. A short time later we stop at the rest area and who should be in line in front of us but this carver and family. We started chatting about the show and shared the picture of his truck with him only to find out they were taking pictures of out truck and trailer too!

That is good advice. I will keep that in mind this year at the show..And I'm gonna drive there alone from the cabin so that way when my friends wanna go back and ride wheelers I can stay and enjoy the show. I don't think I spent much more than an hour or two there at the show last year, didn't get to see much!
An hour or two. :o That is awful. There is a show here in Bangor,ME. I go up one day for the sawmills and than one day for the logging stuff. I open the place and close it.
Yes,go by yourself. ;D You can go riding any day. The show only comes once a year. For the Bangor show,it's once every 2 years.
I went to the Vermont expo with my old man awhile back and I think we drove for longer than we stayed there..about 4 hours driving round trip and we stayed for maybe 3 hrs..dog was waiting in the truck, they didn't allow them and it was a warm sunny day. (He had water and the winders were open just enough that he wouldn't be able to jump out and the rear window opened right up cause my headache rack prevents him from jumping out...he sees something he like or don't like and he gone)
That BAKER mill is a real fine machine. Impressive!
I believe we are close enough to the show date to ask if we are planning to meet
somewhere, preferably at the Logrite Tent??
D
We plan on attending, Dan, just don't know which date yet!
May be able to squeeze it in our busy summer if so will see you folks there.

I know they will be a few gal less of hand cleaner :) :)
Unfortunately, it looks as though the only way I'll make it to the show this year is if I fly in. There is a small private airport with a grass strip a few miles east of Booneville. I'm trying to get permission to land there.
We'll see if I hear back from the person who is listed in my airport directory as the manager of the airport. Then I'd need to figure out transportation to the fair. It looks as though it's about a 10 minute drive away, and far enough off the beaten path that hitchhiking may not be a realistic option. If that all works out, all I've got left is hoping that the weather is good enough to make the flight.
Woohoo! Got permission to land. A 3.5 hour drive (one way) just turned into a 1 hour flight
Now I've just got to figure out how to get from the airport to the show.
Uber driver?
Nope! I won't be making it this year, to much turmoil going on on the home front!
One week and counting, Looking forward to catching-up with some folks
and maybe meeting some new faces,
D
So everyone still gonna meet up at the Log Rite tent ?
Looking like it may be a friday for me
I plan to get there early so I can eat all the brownies. ;D

Jeff sorry I missed ya, you were busy talking with someone and I figured I'd cath ya on my way out when I stopped at LR for my scale stick and you were gone!
WM has a very nice lumber flow that Jeremy designed behind their 70super wide. What a mill that is. I must have ran into at least 10 people I knew at the show. Was a good time, wish I didn't have to leave so early.
Not going to make it.
Too hot for this old geezer.
Maybe next yr.

That little statue of Jeff standing there at your feet is kinda neat. 8)
I was going to ask if he was the model for the big statue.
Unfortunately, It looks as though I'm not going to make this one. Too much going on at home.
Jeff handsome as always.
Nice looking blue tool too.
Well, we got there way-early, so I went to the Log Rite tent anyway and visited with Jeff quite a while, vented a little, etc.
I met Kevin but he was real busy, so didn't visit much.
Didn't catch up with Tamiam, so, I couldn't deliver Fat Old Elf's hug, sorry Paul.

jeff was that hand cart there Saturday cuz I didn't see it that would make a great cart for the cutting torches with the big wheels to go over ruff things
I missed that hand truck too. That thing must've been made with awesome sauce!
The hand truck is also a brush wagon . . It's on my Wish List
What where was I that I missed a hug?
ok drove 870 miles entered the show and logright was the first setup. looked closer and their was Jeff. got acquainted real quick then Tammy Kevin and boys. sure didn't take long to feel like I just met long lost friends. Also met Marty,Dan Sully, cox, but missed some others. Had some of Tammys good brownies of coarse. Its crazy but I have a norwood 29 mill and they were right next to logright. needless to say the first couple of hours I didn't get very far There is nothing on the internet for me that will ever match the forestry forum. Yes I got my good supply of blue creeper and have put it to use already on the door hinges on the motor home. Thanks Tammy. Now for the long drive back to Mooresville NC well worth the trip
Well, Tamiam I looked for you and Jeff said you weren't very far away, but FOE asked me to give you a hug for him.
Well, maybe next year!

Who's in for a Saturday rendezvous??
http://www.starinfo.com/woodsmen/
D
Hoping to be there. Weekends are getting scarce for the rest of the summer.
I'm not going to make it this year. I'd love to go, but it's a long haul and I better save myself for the Paul Bunyan and the shootout this year.

We'll be there! I'm hoping to show 3 models, our 14' entry level crane and trailer, the 4WD trailer, the new Generation 2 'BEAST' trailer as well as some of the new products just released by Farma.

look forward to seeing you there chubby :)
I think I'm going on Friday this year. I'll have my FF hat on.
go Saturday and meet the clan :D
It's official, we'll be there for all three days
I was there yesterday, Met Kevin, Tammiam and Moosehunter (and his wife). I likely bumped elbows with other FF members without even knowing it. As usual, the show was great. I have a family party today (sending a grand daughter off to college) or I'd be there again today. It's real convenient for me, just 1 hr. drive north. I started attending in the mid 80's and went every year until about 2010, since then I think I've missed 2. Great show!

Thanks for the thoughts.
All OK here guys, just suffering a few aftereffects form a combination endoscopy, colonoscopy and hem banding.
butt is sore but getting rapidly better.
Haha reckon I was just a dreamin, turns out the paper I signed was just for the parts I paid for not for the 70 super wide, datgumit! lol
Coxy yes I got your message! Sorry I missed you guys. And I mist the logrite tent I walked in and beelined for the WM setup cause they were sawing..ended up poking around a bit and then I got some parts and blades and they drove us out in their sidexside to the parking lot. Was a lot of fun really enjoyed it. Ran into some people I aint seen in awhile and some ppl I see frequently enough that we didn't even say hi just start talking lol. Boy that lt70 is fast.

Nice meeting you guys. glad someone posted names. I am terrible with names. Just so you guys know you are all "Hey you", then when everyone turns around I will point at who I meant :)

How could you miss us? Lol
We were setup inside the track where the camping used to be, with the carvers at our backs. Quite a bit less traffic than the rest of the show but man was it cool to watch those carvings come together over the weekend.
We had a great time!!
