I need a new big saw. So how are the 660's with a 32"-36" bar? I have 7  Stihl dealers within 20 miles. One Husky dealer. I own 5 Poulans (old  real ones ) an a Farm Boss

The 660 should handle a 36" with no problem..  long as you're proficient at keeping that chain sharp..   ;)

I've got an older 066 Magnum that I run with a 42" bar.  It pulls it ok; I would imagine that a 32" - 36" bar would work just fine with a 660.

36" should be no problem with a skip-tooth chain, but it would really perform with a 25" bar.

FWIW a good running 066 will handle a 36" in Ohio hard woods like childs play with full compliment chain .

I have a new 660 with 36" bar, regular comp chain, used several times so far, last one to fell 4' x 3' (oval shaped) oak stalk last week.  Very pleased with it not nearly so tiring as starting and lifting 090AV with 41" bar.   Haven't used it enough to be sure what the oiler situation is yet, whether it puts out enough,  it is the regular not high capacity oiler,  turned all the way up.   Also have used it to cut a horizontal notch for clearance sawing a big log on LT40, at about my head level, something I could not physically do with my 090AV.

I had read that the new 660's had the better oil pump. Does anyone know? Or is it a change you have to make?

good to hear that you like the 660 thanks for the info

Is the 650 $150 difference or just $150 to buy? If its $150 to buy I'll throw ya another $100 to send it my way and you can have the extra cash for the 660.  ;D
