I dont know if it is the best but oregon 73RD works well. That is all that I have used so far. What kind of saw are you using for milling?

I'm running a Logosol M-7 with a husky 395xp.  The prices from Logosol are killing me.

I like a factory 3/8 pitch full skip ripping chain.

Kevin, do you find full skip to be much faster than full comp? Does it make much difference in the roughness of the board surface? I use Oregon 3/8 square full comp, and have been experimenting with filing angles of 0-10, but not sure which is best, so many variables involved. There must be a 'best' filing angle for hardwoods vs softwoods, even each species. Any thoughts here?

Kevin

When milling wood that your bar is buried in, full skip is better.
As far as angles I stick with a 10o top plate.
Stihl RS is 35o, it cuts well but leaves a rough finish.
