Is there anything that can be done to the white pine logs to discourage the pine borers? Other than sawing them faster/sooner (there are only so many days in the week). Can they be sprayed with something?

Probably not practical, but store them in a mill pond.I know what you mean as I've sawed pine that was past its prime.I don't like it but there is only so much a man can do.

I agree, if you peel the logs, the beetles won't bother them.

Peel them and get them up off the ground and they'll last a lot longer (rot wise) too.  ;)

3rd on peeling, they'll be backing off soon. Once it cools down a little.

I've tried insecticide with no luck, saw em quick, peel, or be prepared to say hello to "holy" lumber!
