I made these two for a co-worker in Mississippi. ERC finished with one coat of BLO and seven coats of Epifanes Gloss Marine Varnish.

Thanks for the kind comments, everybody. The chairs are nice but primarily due to the natural beauty of ERC. The Epifanes varnish doesn't hurt, either.   ;)

They are sitting the back of my pickup parked at the PHI Heliport in Houma, Louisiana. They will get picked up in the morning by the customer.

I drove through an absolute deluge on the trip down from Tyler last night, including several minutes of pea-sized hail before I was able to exit I-20 and pull underneath a gas station canopy. The finish held up well, though, even though it won't be fully cured for another two or three weeks.

Nice looking chairs. :) :)

I like making them also. A friend modified the plans and made
them more comfortable.

I will take a picture and try to post.

Good deal Woodey, I'm trying to select a plan to work with. I'd like to see your ideas too!

These are made out of cypress and have no finish on them.

The ones on the left are about 4 years old. On right made last year.
They also have a foot stool that slides under them out of the way.

Nice looking chairs.  I've not built any, but sat in a few last fall long with my nieces and nephews and sister and bil.  :)

Yup!!!!!!!

The hardest thing about the Adirondack Chair is getting out of it!  ;D

I think it's natures way of saying "sit-a-spell"!   ;)

Good looking chairs.  Have the 3 critical features:

mildly curved back
scrolled seat
level arms

The one issue the jury is still out on is the front edge of the seat.  Flat with a rounded edge is OK.  Splitting a couple of slats and making a curve is easy on the thighs but some extra work.

You can also route a 3" circular recess a half inch deep out on the end of the arm.
It could save a beverage! 8)

You can't see it from the front view in the pics, but I modified the main leg and lengthened the front leg to raise the seat higher and make it easier to get out of the chair. On the first ones I made, I had to do like Jeff and scoot to the front edge to stand up.   ;D

Thanks again to everyone for the kind comments.
