I have been looking at the ms261's.  I found the old school 261, a 261-c and a 261c-m. Does anyone know the difference between the c model and the c-m?  the 261 is $559, c model $599 and th3 c-m is $619.

The 261c-m is with m-tronic controlled ignition and fuel metering. And they run great!

But you will have no screws to adjust.

yes that's what I hear. the "c" doesn't have screws to adjust either. I'm assuming that's an m-tronic also? not sure and don't know why the price difference

I might be wrong, but i have always believed that the c-model was with a normal carburettor, but wit easy start added.

If it has the Easy start it will have an e on it.  I still can't figure out what the c stands for.

C and CM are the same thing. Both are m-tronic designations.

I just bought myself a new 261cm last june or july.i have no complaints about the saw what so ever. it is my go to saw for everything ive been cutting lately. im getting approx 3/4 cord of 8ft hardwood per tank and a bit less in softwood due to limbs.
