On the way to the woods yesterday and I happen to notice 4 active logging jobs and one where they pulled out and everyone seems to have huge piles of softwood...pine, spruce, hemlock, etc. Haven't heard if the mills aren't taking it or what. We cut mostly firewood and a few hard wood logs so never paid much attention. Did cut some red pine one year and that paid decent...esp. the poles. Never saw a tree like it...you could almost bend the top around to touch the base before it snapped. lol Got some firewood out yesterday...it was cold enough where the tires on the truck gripped good. When it is warm the snow is pretty slippery. Sooo we pick our days to haul. I did hear one place was paying $20/ton for poplar. We cut that one spring and got $30/ton. That was decent money. Must be the pine market is flooded. Just wondering if it is like that all over?
