Guys,
Along with age and years of sawing and shooting without ear protection it has got where I have a alful time hearing the 4 stroking anymore. Could I just use a tach to tune with without damaging a motor. Or should I have someone with hearing to tune for me?

Sure you can. I tune them about 500 RPM slower/richer than the stated no load wide open throttle RPM just to fudge on the safe side a little. Make sure the saw is at operating temperature and has burned off any excess in the crankcase before you tune. Works fine. You will be closer than 90% of the people out there who think they can tune by ear.
